Plenful, a startup developing workflow automation tools for healthcare providers, has emerged from stealth with $9 million in a funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners. Co-founder and CEO Joy Liu says that the proceeds will be put toward building out Plenful’s platform, growing the company’s 20-person team (particularly on the engineering, product development, sales and operations sides) and scaling Plenful’s customer base, which currently stands at around 20 healthcare companies. “The pharmacy industry is facing technician burnout and workload overload, contributing to high turnover rates and high labor shortage in the industry,” Liu told TechCrunch in an email interview…

318 Saleo, the live demo experience startup, is the latest Atlanta SaaS platform to raise a Series A round. The team just announced the close of its $13 million Series A, led by Emergence Capital with participation from existing investor Tech Square Ventures. San Francisco-based Emergence Capital is no stranger to the Atlanta startup scene, as the firm led Salesloft’s Series A round back in 2015. Emergence Capital has also invested in household names like Zoom, Salesforce, and Box, alongside other big software companies like G2, Veeva, Yammer (acquired by Microsoft). Despite the generally sluggish fundraising landscape in 2023, Saleo’s…
Google has successfully convinced a California federal judge that it did not infringe on Sonos’ multi-room audio patents. As Reuters reports, US District Judge William Alsup has thrown out a previous verdict that slapped the tech giant with a $32.5 million fine for infringing on patents held by Sonos related to managing groups of speakers. The judge explained that Sonos’ patents for the lawsuit “ostensibly descended from [a] 2006 provisional application.” However, the company apparently didn’t file the applications for the patents in question until 2019, and it didn’t roll out the technology to its own products until 2020. That’s years…
When I reviewed the Espresso Display last year, I concluded that it would be a great addition to a mobile office setup for workers who needed additional screen real estate without taking up too much space (and weight) in the travel setup. Now, Sydney-based Espresso Displays has launched its follow-up, the Espresso 17 Pro, further evolving its product. Designed to cater to professionals across various sectors, the device combines high-end tech specs and touchscreen goodness. On paper, it looks pretty damn impressive: The Espresso 17 Pro boasts a 4K resolution, a staggering 1 billion colors with 10-bit spectrum and 450…
Forza Motorsport launches for Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC on October 10 but is out now in early access. Unfortunately, some players are encountering a severe game-breaking bug that makes all progression impossible. Forza Motorsport glitch costs players all their progress Whenever Forza Motorsport players buy or upgrade a car, there is a chance of it triggering an infinite loading screen. The game gives no indication of an error occurring, and it lacks any system to time out if a load takes too long. “The game will just hang there indefinitely,” says one player on the Forza Forums. Gripper behavior and performance. Credit: Korea Institute of Science and Technology Utilizing soft, flexible materials such as cloth, paper, and silicone, soft robotic grippers act like a robot’s hand to perform functions such as safely grasping and releasing objects. Unlike conventional rigid material grippers, they are more flexible and safe, and are being researched for household robots that handle fragile objects such as eggs, or for logistics robots that need to carry various types of objects. However, its low load capacity makes it difficult to lift heavy objects, and its poor grasping stability makes it easy to lose the object…

With little fanfare, the European Union has launched a huge climate experiment. On October 1, the EU kicked off the initial phase of a Europe-wide tax on carbon in imported goods. This marks the first time a carbon border tax has been tried at this scale anywhere in the world. Europe’s experiment could have ripple effects across the entire globe, pushing high-emitting industries to clean up their production and incentivizing other countries to launch their own carbon taxes. It may well end up being the most important climate policy you have never heard of.“This is an excellent example of wild…
