Nanoleaf x FANTAQI Smart Monitor Stand Review

The Nanoleaf x FANTAQI Smart Monitor Stand promises to tidy up your desk while adding useful lighting and plenty of RGB customization. It’s a simple idea with a premium price attached, but does that result in a premium experience? After using it for over two weeks, here is my review.

Clear some space

Assembly is straightforward, as I was helpfully guided by an instructional video. Once assembled, the stand feels solid and the walnut veneer looks suitably premium. I like the finish, though black and white alternatives would absolutely be welcome for setups where wood just doesn’t complement an existing style.

I use monitor arms, so the Nanoleaf spent its time supporting my GoXLR, Alexa, desktop speakers, and headphone stand. The space underneath proved handy for post-it notes, my diary, an Xbox controller, and my gaming headset. Tucking my keyboard away also freed up space for writing or using my laptop. It’s a simple benefit, but one I appreciated every day.

For those using a monitor’s own stand, the extra height could help if its adjustment range is limited. At 39.4” wide, however, this is a substantial shelf, so measure your space and monitor base first, as I’d hate for you to get a nasty surprise upon its arrival.

There’s also an optional middle support for heavier setups, though I didn’t need it. There are also 23 mounting points for accessories.

Light it up

As a Nanoleaf product, it shouldn’t be a surprise that lighting is the main attraction. The front light did a good job illuminating my desk, while the rear RGB added a colorful glow behind the setup. Being able to control them independently means you can keep your workspace visible while enjoying some ambient color.

I mostly settled on teal to match my GoXLR lighting and other blue peripherals. Warm white also looked good when I wanted something simpler. The Nanoleaf app worked without issues during my testing, and the touch controls were convenient for quick adjustments.

Screen Mirror through the desktop app can match the lighting to on-screen colors for a more immersive gaming setup. Rhythm mode provides music-reactive effects, while Matter compatibility and Sync+ offer smart-home control and synchronization with compatible Nanoleaf lights.

Bring your own power

The missing power adapter is the most obvious omission. A compatible charger I already owned worked fine, but buyers need a USB-C PD or Quick Charge adapter rated for at least 15W. At this price, I’d have liked one included, though I understand the defense many companies are now taking, about reducing waste.

The cost also deserves consideration. If you mainly want somewhere to store a keyboard, much cheaper risers can do that job. You’ll want to make use of the lighting to get your money’s worth.
