Capcom has confirmed the expected resolution and performance for Monster Hunter Wilds on the Switch 2.
Overall, it sounds okay. You’re looking at a 30fps frame rate target, with two resolution options available for docked mode: Prioritise Resolution and Prioritise Frame Rate. Now, the question we have here is that if we’re looking at 30fps for both, just how will performance be affected by the increased resolution?
Capcom has noted in its announcement that frame rate may drop in high-load situations, so we’re expecting overall performance to fluctuate quite a bit more if you opt to prioritise resolution.
Naturally, ray tracing is not available for the Switch 2, but then it seems to only be available for the PS5 Pro anyway – at least with consoles.
So here are the exact figures:
| Mode | Resolution | Frame Rate |
|---|---|---|
| TV Mode (Prioritise Resolution) |
2240 x 1260 | 30fps |
| TV Mode (Prioritise Frame Rate) |
1920 x 1080 | 30fps |
| Handheld Mode | 1536 x 864 | 30fps |
Monster Hunter Wilds is currently scheduled to launch on 4th December 2026. Its major expansion, Ascendance, has also been confirmed for Switch 2 and will launch in 2027.
