Era One Will Reveal Multiplayer and 1.0 Date at Gamescom 2026

Team Complex is taking its ambitious space strategy game Era One to Gamescom 2026, where attendees will be able to play its multiplayer mode for the first time.

The UK-based developer will showcase Era One at the Home of Indies area in Hall 10 throughout the Cologne event, which runs from August 26 to 30. The studio will also use Gamescom to announce the date on which the game will leave Steam Early Access and officially launch as version 1.0.

Media attendees will be able to book hands-on appointments to try the new multiplayer battles, watch gameplay demonstrations, and speak to the development team about the making of the game.

Era One launched through Steam Early Access on August 6, 2025. It combines real-time strategy and fleet combat with modular spaceship construction, base building, resource management, and exploration. The current Steam version is officially listed as a single-player game, making Gamescom the first public opportunity to see how its multiplayer systems will work.

Players can construct space stations and bases using modular components, with their layout, appearance, defences, and internal systems all open to customisation. Resources, energy, and workers must then be managed to keep each base operational while new technologies unlock stronger defences and more efficient construction options.

The same modular philosophy extends to Era One’s spaceships. Engines, weapons, shields, scanners, cargo bays, and other components can be combined to create vessels suited to combat, trade, exploration, or specialised fleet roles. Ships can also be visually customised through different hulls, designs, and paint schemes.

Era One takes place after Earth’s resources have been exhausted and humanity’s intergalactic political system has collapsed. Its story follows Alya De Shars, who attempts to steal an energy source and launch a secret vessel in search of a new beginning beyond the Solar System.

The science-fiction narrative is accompanied by an original piano-based soundtrack composed by Alberto Selvaggi.

Team Complex has not yet indicated when during Gamescom the Era One 1.0 release date will be announced. The event begins with its trade and media day on August 26 before opening more widely to visitors through August 30.
