The hellscape that was streamer Asmongold’s room has finally been cleaned and it’s been a long-time coming.
Zachariah “Asmongold” Hoyt has been living in a state of horrific filth for years. Every room in his home was dirty beyond help and packed with garbage. It was getting so bad that he even claimed to use a dead rat as his alarm clock four years ago, explaining that the smell of it cooking in the sun would let him know it’s time to wake up and stream.
While a guy living in filth is, unfortunately, not surprising, his fans were extra confused by the state of his home, given that he’s very rich. Asmongold gained popularity in 2019 when he began streaming his World of Warcraft gameplay. As time went on, he also founded a content creator collective called One True King (OTK) and became a prominent figure in the streaming community.
Meanwhile, he was letting his teeth rot out and was surrounded by mold.
Asmongold’s dirty home becomes a meme, but is it actually funny?
As the years went on, Asmongold’s gross house became a joke within the streaming community. Memes were made, like satirical claims that his room was going to be featured in Powerwash Simulator.
Fellow OTK members even went to his house two years ago to check out the horrors that lay within the walls. His kitchen sink almost made Emiru hurl, plates full of old food were piled high on his streaming desk, and his bedroom was infested with ants. Oh, and a possum had fallent through the ceiling at one point? It was all very perplexing and disturbing.
While everyone was making jokes about Asmongold’s strange living situation, some fans voiced legit concerns.
“This is the epitome of grief personified,” said one viewer. “You may consider this hoarding, but that’s a response to his upbringing and an attempt at maintaining his past memories of his parents.”
In 2024, Asmongold decided to clean some rooms in his home. He found a dead rat along the way. He showed a side-by-side of his living room on X (formerly Twitter), claiming that some of the gross stuff in his house was somehow going to charity.
Still, his streaming room remained disgusting. Well, until now!
Asmongold decided to start off the New Year with a bang. Cleaning his streaming room took three hours and left him with an entirely aching body.
He shared the results during a Kick stream, promising viewers that there were no more dead rats found along the way. Instead, he found five rotten burritos.
“I had no idea. I thought there’d be at most two,” Asmongold said.
While it may seem like a small feat to some people, it really seemed like this clean exhilarated Asmongold. He appeared quite animated while talking about his newly clean room with viewers. Even though some comments were condeming him for letting it get that bad to begin with, some fans were proud for Asmongold.
“When I heard he had been going through all the stuff with his mom and dad for like five years, his messy room made a TON of sense to me,” said one fan. “Like him or hate him, you have to empathize with the depression he probably felt knowing his time was limited as he took care of them.”
