Slime Rancher 2 has been coming together in Steam Early Access since September 2022, but the sequel is finally ready to come out of the oven. The farming and creature catching simulator is officially launching in 1.0 on September 23, three years and one day after its initial EA launch.
The sequel to the well-received 2017 game centers on returning protagonist Beatrix LeBeau’s journey to the mysterious Rainbow Island. To uncover its secrets and save the Far, Far Range from a new threat, she’ll need to create a new farm and conservatory to gather resources with the help of a bevy of new slimes.
The launch version will feature new content and gameplay updates. These include new Quantum Drones that help automate ranch tasks and collect resources. Additional blueprints will be added for gadgets, upgrades, and decorations. The 1.0 version also features new sections of the Labyrinth, a new area filled with puzzles and secrets.
Developer Monomi Park is also partnering with iam8bit to release a physical edition of the game on January 14. Available for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, it will feature an exclusive fold-out poster illustrated by acclaimed Final Fantasy artist Yusuke Naora. Those who pre-order this edition will also receive a free digital download of the game’s soundtrack in the box, but this offer is only available for a limited time.
Slime Rancher 2 will launch on September 23 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
