WTF?! Elon Musk says he will rename SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI following President Trump’s executive order to start using the term Super Intelligence, or SI, instead of artificial intelligence. Musk seems to be following in the footsteps of fellow CEO Mark Zuckerberg, though the Facebook boss – who changed his company’s name a few years ago to reflect a technology he liked at the time – has yet to announce that Meta AI is now Meta SI.
Musk revealed his decision on his X platform. After posting “No more AI” and that SI was better, a user asked about the possibility of SpaceXAI becoming SpaceXSI. “Yes, we will make that change,” he replied.

This all stems from Trump reiterating his previous call to rename artificial intelligence Super Intelligence at last week’s tech summit. His executive order instructed US government departments and agencies to start using the term when referring to the technology. The order said SI will take the place of AI in “official correspondence,” websites, reports and other forms of communication. Trump previously said the word “artificial” made the technology sound “fake.”
As a reminder, SpaceX acquired xAI in February. Musk then rebranded xAI as Space XAI in July, so changing it again to SpaceXSI could confuse a lot of people.
At the time of writing, SpaceXAI hasn’t changed its name on the company’s website or official X account. This certainly wouldn’t be the first time that Musk has said he’d do something that never came to pass, like having a cage fight with Mark Zuckerberg.

Speaking of Zuckerberg, he’s also said to have started saying super intelligence instead of artificial intelligence. Again, that must be a bit confusing when he talks a lot about superintelligence, an AI (or SI) that greatly exceeds human cognitive performance across virtually every domain.
Zuckerberg, of course, changed Facebook’s corporate name to Meta several years ago as he was so convinced that the metaverse would be the future of humanity and technology. Not one of his best predictions, that one.
Beyond those two billionaires – and the government agencies that have to use it – we’re not seeing a lot of people using the term super intelligence rather than artificial intelligence. It’s hard to imagine that will change, either.
