Let’s get back to basics – great battery life, reliable build, reasonable price – that’s the vivo Y31d! Even its name is far removed from the modern trends.
The Y31d quietly launched this week and we’re just in time for an unboxing. The phone ships with a full set of accessories – a case, a 44W charger, and a USB-A to USB-C cable.
You have a choice of Glow White and this subdued Starlight Gray. The phone is pretty reasonably sized at 166.6 x 78.4 x 8.39mm and weighs only 219g. Those dimensions don’t reflect the massive 7,200mAh power pack hidden inside, though. You’d not guess there’s a full two-day power supply inside the Y31d.
The phone is also well protected against the elements, to the tune of IP69+ – you needn’t worry over splashes, rain, submersion of up to 1.5 meters, and even high-pressure water jets (though why would you?).
So, build quality and battery life are highlights on the vivo Y31d. How about performance? That’s covered by a Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 SoC with 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The chipset’s name betrays the phone’s 4G-only nature, but we’d expect the people who will get this phone to be fine without 5G.

Upfront is an LCD of 720p resolution, but it gets decently bright and is fast-refreshing at 120Hz. The fingerprint scanner has been relegated to the side frame, but it works fine.

Vivo’s Y31d is a no-frills smartphone that will do it all for the person on a budget. It will supply great performance with solid battery runtimes and is covered with vivo’s Android 16-based OriginOS 6. Do you really need anything more for your basic phone needs?
