If you’re jumping into Season 4 of Last Epoch and eyeing up the Rogue, you’ve picked a good time. The latest update finally gives the class a clear identity, leaning hard into Shadow-based gameplay while opening the door to more flexible melee and ranged builds.
- Build 1: Shadow Rend Bladedancer (Burst Assassin)
- Build 2: Bladestorm Hybrid Rogue
- Bonus Build: Shadow Marksman Hybrid
- Which Build should you pick?
Whether you want to delete bosses in a single burst window or just slice through Monoliths at speed, there are already a few standout Rogue builds emerging as early favourites – you can check out all the new Rogue skills right here, and if you still don’t know how to change your mastery, this will help too. Here are the best Rogue builds to get you started.
Build 1: Shadow Rend Bladedancer (Burst Assassin)
This is the obvious winner from the update and, in my opinion, the strongest early meta contender.
Core idea
Stack Shadows, detonate everything in a burst window, then reposition before anything hits back.
Core skills
- Shadow Rend (main damage)
- Shift (mobility + Shadow generation)
- Smoke Bomb (defence + buffs)
- Synchronised Strike (Shadow generation)
- Umbral Blades (optional bleed/extra clear)
How it plays
You’re basically setting traps with your own abilities.
- Build Shadows using Shift and Synchronised Strike
- Drop Shadow Rend into a pack or boss
- Let the delayed hit and Shadow interactions stack
- Everything explodes
It’s very rhythm-based. If you just spam, it’ll feel weak. If you time it properly, it deletes screens.
Key scaling
- Melee damage
- Shadow damage / Shadow effects
- Critical strike chance and multiplier
- Dexterity
Strengths
- Massive burst damage
- High mobility
- Strong boss killer
Weaknesses
- Timing matters, not beginner-friendly
- Can feel squishy if you mess up
Who it’s for
Players who like high-skill, high-reward gameplay and don’t mind juggling unsexy cooldowns.
Build 2: Bladestorm Hybrid Rogue
This is your “just let me farm efficiently” build, and it’s going to be very popular.
Core idea
Throw Bladestorms everywhere and let them do the work while you stay mobile.
Core skills
- Bladestorm (main clear)
- Puncture or Flurry (single target support)
- Shift (mobility)
- Smoke Bomb (defence)
- Decoy (optional distraction tool)
How it plays
This one’s much simpler.
- Throw Bladestorm into packs
- Kite enemies through it
- Keep moving, keep throwing
It’s basically area denial. Enemies walk into death while you stay out of trouble.
Key scaling
- Physical damage
- Throwing damage
- Attack speed
- Dexterity
Strengths
- Excellent clear speed
- Easy to play
- Safe and consistent
Weaknesses
- Lower burst than Shadow Rend
- Boss fights take longer
Who it’s for
If you just want to blast through Monoliths without thinking too hard, this is your build.
Bonus Build: Shadow Marksman Hybrid
This is the wildcard build that Season 4 quietly enables.
Core idea
Use Shadow Rend with a bow to create a hybrid ranged Shadow build.
Core skills
- Shadow Rend (yes, with a bow)
- Multishot or Hail of Arrows
- Shift
- Smoke Bomb
- Dark Quiver
Why it works
Shadow Rend working with bows is a big deal.
- You get ranged safety
- Still benefit from Shadow scaling
- Opens up hybrid playstyles
Reality xheck
This probably won’t be top-tier meta, but it’ll be fun and absolutely viable.
Which Build should you pick?
If you want the strongest build
→ Shadow Rend Bladedancer
If you want easy farming
→ Bladestorm Rogue
If you want something different
→ Shadow Marksman hybrid
