As United States citizens continue to demand the release of the Epstein Files, the Justice Department has shared another 600,000 documents on Friday, January 30th. We are still missing the “millions of files” that were promised, but let’s be real: how much more is truly needed to take action?
At this point, we have a ton of damning evidence against sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and the wealthy and powerful people who hung out with him at events and flew to his island. We even have an email from Microsoft informing Epstein of his permanent ban from Xbox Live.
Why was Jeffrey Epstein permanently banned from Xbox Live?
You can see plenty of emails that Xbox sent to Epstein via the Justice Department, but one email has caught the attention of the gaming community.
On Thursday, December 19th, 2013, Microsoft sent a “Notification of Enforcement Action” to Epstein. According to the email, Epstein was given a “notice of permanent enforcement action” over “harassment, threats, and/or abuse.”
The email informed Epstein that his “Xbox Live privileges have been permanently suspended.” Whoever reviewed his reported actions determined that his conduct was “severe, repeated, and/or excessive.”
We do not know exactly what Epstein did to get a permanent ban, although Microsoft states that this type of ban could be the result of death threats, property damage, acts of violence, verbal abuse, griefing, extortion, slander, doxxing, or stalking.
I immediately figured he pulled a DrDisrespect and sexually harassed children, but it seems he may have more likely sent violent threats to other players. It’s unclear what games he played or what he was doing on Xbox Live to get a permanent ban, but it was clearly very toxic.
It’s also possible that Epstein was banned from Xbox Live after Microsoft and the New York Attorney General at the time made an agreement that registered sex offenders had to be banned from online gaming. This would be despite Epstein’s closeness with Bill Gates, who was also in the files, accused of plenty of horrific acts. The permaban email could have just included a generic reason, but it’s still not certain.
There are obviously many more pressing matters being discussed from the latest batch of emails and documents. However, it’s refreshing to see Microsoft do something cool for once after we’ve been continuously hearing nothing but price hikes from the unpopular gaming console.
