The Women’s Entrepreneurship Initiative (WEI), the nation’s only municipality-funded accelerator for women founders, is officially relaunching this fall.
WEI was founded in 2015 and to date has seen 90 companies go through its program. After a hiatus over the last few years, the program is coming and back and evolving to be a “concierge for female entrepreneurs” based on their stages of growth, said Jennifer Bonnett, Invest Atlanta’s VP of Technology & Entrepreneurship.
With its relaunch, WEI is looking to bring on 15 female entrepreneurs who are building either high-growth potential or are scalable social impact ventures and have already created over $50k in revenue.
Businesses must be based in the City of Atlanta to qualify. The program requires participants to dedicate around 20 hours a month.
Ultimately, the team behind WEI wants to help build up the next group of successful business leaders in town.
“The end goal is to create jobs” in Georgia and the Atlanta area, Bonnett added.
WEI’s content has been updated to be the most relevant for entrepreneurs and business owners building in 2025. Over the nine month program, participants will go over things like customer development planning, pricing strategies, hiring, and building internal systems that scale (things that can be overlooked by other idea-focused accelerators).
The program will based on four pillars:
-
Business Analysis – One-on-one mentorship + pain point diagnostics from industry leaders.
-
Learning & Leadership Development – Partnership-ready training through live sessions, digital tools, and expert coaching.
-
Strategic Partnerships – Pipeline access to corporations, anchor institutions, and public-private networks.
-
Funding Opportunities – Capital strategy support—from grant writing to investor prep to contract-readiness.
